Music I like to listen to while drawing.

Wanted to share some of the instrumental music I love listening to while I'm drawing.

I'll start with my Lord of the Rings favourites, I used to listen to all the albums while I was drawing but now there are just a few "best of" songs in my drawing playlist.

Evenstar, Twilight and Shadow, Isengard Unleashed and The White Rider (there are a few more but these are my uppmost favourites. LotR's music if of course composed of the brilliant Howard Shore.

Evenstar                                                                  Twilight and Shadow

Isendgard Unleashed                                                  The White Rider

And then some random other instrumental songs I love.

Nara by Posthumus.

Requiem for a Tower by Corner Stone Cues           And the original (I think) version of this
song, Lux Aeterna by Clint Manshell.

Baba Yetu, done for Civilazaton but by Christopher Tin.

Main Title by Ramin Djawadi, or better know as Game of Thrones intro.

and finally for now, not an instrumental song but I find it very inspirational,
Everybode wants to rule the world by Lorde.

I hope my blog won't crash with all these videos...

Until later!

Artist I love

Bored on a Saturday night, Netflix not working at the moment so I decided to make a post with some of my favourite artists.

Claire Hummel or "Shoomlah.
I really like her style, she has a lot of interesting drawing, I thought her princess line was very fun and she has some sick costume designs!

Brittney Lee
I discovered her through her artworks for Frozen but her style and art in general are amazing. I really love her illustration style, it's so clean and stylish. She aslo has a great eye for details and designs.

Anna Dittmann
Her gallery is just breathtaking. Her style, fluidity and colour pallete work so well together. I would love one of her artworks on my wall someday.

Michelle Czajkowski
The author of the webcomic Ava's Demon, one of the best comic I have ever read, and she has a great style.

That's all for now, I will add more of lovely artist later.

Dissertation work and sketches

Well then. I'm still working on this wonderful dissertation. It's not so bad, I love reasearch and a good topic. But it's at that point now where I need to cut down text and make everything look good.
I will be happy when I turn it in and I can start to focus all my energy back to drawing. (and hopefully some screen printing)

I'm back in the UK btw, in the rain and cold houses, but I have a new blanket so I'll be fine.

I did a couple of sketches few days back, I found the style I tried out a bit interesting, kind of old fashioned washed out colour pallete that remind me of old illustration print.

Christmas Madness

Well then.

Been a while.

This Christmas turned out being a bit different that I expected. I went home a few days before and all was good but then on the day before Christmas which we in Iceland call "Þorláksmessa" not sure if anyone else does, my mom slipped on the hard ice and broke her leg. Or ankle it is supposedly. So, I ended up being quite busy with tending the home, cooking Christmas dinner for the first time, for New Year as well, and attending to guests and so on. Not that I'm complaining, I just ended up doing much less schoolwork that I anticipated.

After being in this role now for three weeks I find it kind of strange that I''ll be going back to the UK. It's not too long until I have to hand in my dissertation. *gulp*

But I did quite a few screen print tote bags and prints that I gave as gifts for the holidays. They were very well received so I might make more if I can find any spare time when I get back. I would also love to make some t-shirts and such. The poor fine art department won't be able to get rid of me.

Also....I am pretty sure that my student loan won't cover my expenses for this semester, since it's quite a bit longer than the other one. I won't be home until June or July. I really don't want to find a job while I'm studying but I might have to, I have always had to work with school until now but I was hoping I could focus all my energy on drawing. *sigh* such is life.

Below is a very blurry picture of some of the tote bags and prints. (my phone is not very good at focusing)
